Socialism
Tempted to believe that we have become too complex to rule ourselves, governing the people by an elite group is preferable. Consider that if we are not capable of governing ourselves than whom among us is qualified to govern others.
We stand on the entrance to Socialism, propelled there by political parties. Our rights seem to now be at the whim of the government. Our freedom seems to be slipping out of our grasp. The Founding Fathers knew that the government does nothing as well as the private sector. Socialism stifles the entrepreneur and as a result it tends to feed on itself. Distribution of wealth predisposes one to suppress ambitions. What is gained when hard work and long hours are used to support a person with a poor work ethic? The work ethic is lost when there is no penalty for not working. I think of myself as someone who will consider a government that most reflects the best interests and ideals that our founders had in mind when they fought to build our unique nation. We have national press who have lost the meaning of journalism and seem to be afraid of not being PC. That is, to report the news without bias (from either side) and to corroborate rumors posing as fact. We can inundate one another with the partisan musings from bloggers who have no understanding of boundaries where truth and decency are concerned. They disseminate items that are passed around as fact and, unfortunately, become “truth” for an ill-informed electorate. Socialism stifles everyone. The government has all and soon the power of the people disappears.
